Laura E. Sopher, surviving spouse of the Rev. Joseph Sopher, died November 23. A family graveside service was held November 26, at Lafayette Cemetery near Lima, OH. Rev. Glenn A. Brunstetter served Irondale/Hammondsville, Pennsylvania Avenue, Grace Uhrichsville, Shreve, Scio, and Smith’s Corners United Methodist churches in the East Ohio Conference. Mary Brunstetter, surviving spouse of the Rev. Glenn A. Brunstetter, died December 4. A funeral service was held December 11 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington, KY. Nellie Irene Clouston, surviving spouse of the Rev. John A. Clouston, died December 10, 2021.

Elnora K. Wells,surviving spouse of the Rev. Robert N. Wells, died July 28. Rev. Dr. Robert Tolbert served Akron Centenary, Alliance Union Avenue, Cory, Shaffer Memorial, Ashland St. Paul, Wilson, and North Hill UMCs, and as Akron District Superintendent. Between 2000 and 2006, Pastor Wargo served Central Mansfield and Salem Sandusky in the East Ohio Conference. Virginia L. Carothers, surviving spouse of the Rev. Grant Carothers, died November 28, 2018. Services were held Friday, April 26, 2019 at Defenbaugh-Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home in Circleville, OH. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. George E. Lee.

Evelyn Taylor, surviving spouse of the Rev. Alva W. Taylor, died August 12. Private funeral services for the family were held at Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home followed by burial at Mansfield Memorial Park. Thelma Hawkins, surviving spouse of the Rev. Richard E. Hawkins, died December 1. A private family service was held at Woodlawn UMC on December 29, 2020. A public Celebration of Life will be planned when gathering is safe. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. W. Paul Brown.
We conduct worship each first day of the week where we partake of the lord’s supper, and we lay by in store. We also perform acapella singing, and offer prayers and supplications, as well as preaching and teaching. We promote “in home” bible studies, as well as wonderful family events such as monthly “potlucks” and “family fests” We also have a Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening bible study.

The church is supported by elders, deacons, volunteer teachers, and a part time youth minister. The Minister of the Manhattan Church of Christ must be knowledgeable of the Scriptures and be able to teach, preach and equip the Church for discipleship and service. The Minister must be devoted to Jesus and be passionate about teaching others to live and grow as disciples. The Minister will work with the elders and other leaders in the congregation to equip members for the work of ministry. The pulpit will be shared with the other men in the congregation and guest speakers. Other responsibilities will be assigned to the minister based on his experience, attributes, and interests.
Rev. Whipple is survived by son David Whipple, son Douglas Whipple, daughter Patti Whipple-Kochman, and grandchildren. Rev. Dr. Chisholm is survived by daughter Shirli, son Rusty , daughter Liane , six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Oversee ministry for children ages birth to 5th grade. Represent the interests of the children in the church's care at all decision-making meetings and sessions. We would also hope our minister would be very active in visitation, often accompanied by our available members. Minister should be able to interact well with congregation and in the community. Salary will be based on experience as discussed with the elders.
Mrs. Garth is survived by son Richard Garth, daughter Barbara Deibel, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Rev. Dr. Schwenk is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Jennifer Schwenk Todd, son Andrew Feakins, daughter Anna Balduff, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Rev. Dr. Schwenk donated his body to the Toledo Medical College and per his request no formal services will be held. Rev. Pastor Schoonover served at Mingo First, Reinersville Charge, Somerton Charge and New Matamoras Charge. Rev. Wolfe is survived by two daughters, Brenda Wolfe and Anita Cutler, and six grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Pohly. She is survived by her daughter Carol Pohly, son Keith Pohly, two grandsons and two great grandsons. Services were held Saturday, May 18 at the Tiffin Harmony United Methodist Church.
Southeastern Children’s Home is located in the upstate of South Carolina between Spartanburg and Greenville, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. SECH has an opening for houseparents to live in a cottage and care for up to 7 adolescent children. Competitive salaries, paid time off, medical insurance, 24-hour backup and support by social work staff, housing, utilities, food allowance, gas allowance, and van for work use are provided. This person would need to be able to lead weekly a cappella praise teams and congregational singing. This person would also be expected to help form meaningful, scripture-based worship themes, working with the preaching minister. Actively working in personal evangelism making local contacts, seeking personal bible studies, and extending visit to services and congregation activities.
Training, preaching experience, ability, and personality will all be strongly considered. This will be accomplished by working in conjunction with the elders and the other ministry staff. Minimum of five years’ experience in family ministry, preaching or related church work preferred.
